Batch image optimization & WebP/AVIF conversion
Compress JPEG, PNG, WebP & AVIF images by up to 80% directly in your browser. Strip sensitive EXIF location metadata and convert to responsive social presets.
Drag & drop images, or click to upload
Supports JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, HEIC (max 25MB per file)
How to compress images in your browser
- Drag and drop one or more JPEG, PNG, WebP, AVIF or HEIC files into the upload area.
- Choose the target output format, such as WebP for the web or JPEG for email attachments.
- Set the target file size in kilobytes and pick a dimension preset if you need a specific shape.
- Click Optimize. Compression runs locally and each result is listed with its before and after size.
- Download individual files, or review them side by side with the comparison slider.
Compress an image to an exact file size
Many forms and portals cap uploads at a fixed size. Set the target to the limit you need and the optimizer will keep reducing quality and, if necessary, resolution until the file fits.
- 25 KB for strict government, visa and job application portals.
- 50 KB for profile photos and document uploads.
- 100 KB for blog and content images that still need detail.
- 200 KB or more for hero images and print-adjacent previews.
Convert PNG to WebP, AVIF or JPEG
WebP is usually the best default for websites because it produces files 25-80% smaller than PNG at the same visual quality. AVIF can be even smaller but is slower to encode, so requests for AVIF fall back to WebP when the browser cannot encode it reliably. Choose JPEG when you need maximum compatibility with older software.
Remove EXIF GPS metadata from photos
Phone photos often embed EXIF metadata that includes GPS coordinates, device model and timestamps. Re-encoding through the Canvas API drops that metadata, and the "Strip EXIF GPS privacy data" option makes the intent explicit. This is useful before sharing photos publicly or sending documents to third parties.
Social media and document image sizes
- Instagram square post: 1080 x 1080 px (1:1)
- Instagram story or reel cover: 1080 x 1920 px (9:16)
- LinkedIn banner: 1584 x 396 px (4:1)
- Passport / ID photo: 600 x 600 px (2 x 2 inch at 300 DPI)
- E-commerce product thumbnail: 800 x 800 px (1:1)
Why browser-based compression is more private
Most online compressors upload your files to a server for processing. This tool uses the HTML5 Canvas API directly in your browser, so your images never leave your device and are never stored remotely. That makes it safe for personal photos, client work and sensitive documents.
Frequently asked questions about image compression
How do I compress a JPEG to a specific size like 20 KB?
Upload the JPEG, set the target file size to 20 KB, and run the optimizer. The engine iteratively adjusts quality and, if needed, resolution until the output is at or below the target.
Can I batch compress multiple images at once?
Yes. Drop an entire folder of images into the upload area and click Optimize. Every file is processed sequentially in your browser and listed with its before and after size.
What image formats can I convert between?
The optimizer accepts JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF and HEIC inputs, and exports JPEG, WebP, PNG or AVIF. AVIF requests fall back to WebP because in-browser AVIF encoding is not yet reliable.
How do I resize an image for Instagram?
Choose the Instagram Square (1080x1080) or Instagram Story (1080x1920) preset. The image is cropped and scaled to the exact dimensions while the optimizer compresses the result.
