When to turn PDF pages into images

A JPG page is useful for a preview, a slide, a messaging app or a form that accepts an image but not a PDF. Each page is rendered on its own, so a 5-page PDF gives you five separate images.

The page is drawn at the scale you choose. Text in a scan or a document page stays an image; this tool does not extract text or run OCR.

Scale and quality

1x is roughly 72 DPI, 1.5x is roughly 108 DPI and 2x is roughly 144 DPI for a standard page. Use 2x when the reader needs to see small text; use 1x when a small preview is enough.

High JPEG quality (0.92) keeps more detail. Small (0.70) reduces the file size but can add softness around letters and thin lines. Both settings render the same page dimensions at a given scale.

Protected and large PDFs

Password-protected PDFs are skipped with a message. The tool does not remove encryption. Save an unprotected copy first if you own the file. A long PDF can take a while and use a lot of memory because every rendered page is kept until you download it.

What this tool cannot do

  • It does not create a ZIP; each JPG downloads separately.
  • It does not run OCR or make the text searchable.
  • It does not remove PDF passwords or encryption.
  • It does not edit the PDF or convert it to Word.
  • It does not upload the PDF anywhere.

How it works

  1. Step 1

    Add the PDF

Choose one PDF and check the page count. Password-protected PDFs are skipped.

  2. Step 2

    Choose scale and quality

2x is a good default for readable text. High quality keeps more detail; Small makes smaller files.

  3. Step 3

    Render the pages

Select Convert and wait while each page is drawn in order. The progress text shows the current page.

  4. Step 4

    Download the JPGs

Download each page image separately. This version does not create a ZIP.

Frequently asked questions

How do I convert PDF pages to JPG?

Add the PDF, choose a scale and JPEG quality, select Convert, then download each page image from the result list. The rendering happens in your browser.

What does the scale setting change?

Scale controls the output pixels. 1x is about 72 DPI, 1.5x is about 108 DPI and 2x is about 144 DPI. A larger scale gives a sharper image and a larger file.

Can I download all pages at once?

No. This version downloads each JPG separately and does not create a ZIP. A PDF with many pages means many download buttons.

Are protected PDFs supported?

No. Password-protected PDFs are skipped with a message. The tool does not remove or guess passwords.

Will the images contain searchable text?

No. The PDF pages are rendered as images, so text is not searchable and no OCR is performed.

Is my PDF uploaded?

No. The PDF is loaded and rendered in your browser. The site loads analytics and ads, but your file is not sent to a server.
